Redefining Beauty

Young women in the Greater Trail Area are increasingly subject to many unhealthy relationships and high-risk activities.  A young woman named Amber wanted to do something about this increasing pressure to fit into the mold of what is considered feminine in Western Culture. “Redefining Beauty” is a peer-led workshop series for teenage girls in the Greater Trail Area.  These workshops cover topics of body image, self-esteem, and healthy relationships, creating a safe space for young women to connect and find a place to relate to other girls their own age.

Amber, the group creator, has designed workshops that include group discussion, interactive projects, experiential learning activities and individual reflection.  The primary goal of these workshops is to provide a space for girls to feel comfortable discussing issues facing them; both personally and socially. While Amber has moved on to University, we are excited to have MacAulay, taking the reins for our 2012 group.
